Qatar Motor Show 2013

Last weekend (Friday), a close friend of one of my housemates (co-nurse) invited us to watch the annual event of motor show and exhibition at Qatar Exhibition Center (Qatar Tourism Authority). A day before Friday, my housemates and I already arranged of going to Villagio Shopping Mall for lunch as well as buy some personal stuff there. Luckily, this friend of my housemate texted him if all of us wanted to watch the said event. Since we don’t have so much to do that day, we agreed instantly to go since his friend said he will fetch us up in Villagio Mall before dusk.

In short, we arrived in the venue of the affair past 7 pm. In the exhibition ground (outside the Qatar Tourism Authority building) the motor exhibition had already started its first phase of the show. The bleacher is fully loaded from top to bottom. The exhibition ground was also surrounded by numerous boisterous spectators all busy from taking pictures of the ongoing motor exhibition. Since we can’t find any space or place that we could watch the show clearly, we just decided to proceed to the motor show instead which was held inside the QTA building. After registering and paying for the tickets, we went through to the main door and whooah! finest sports and luxury cars of various top motor companies mesmerized my eyes – a collection of costliest and luxurious motor vehicles. I have taken some pictures of them because I can’t resist taking a shot each of them.

Ramdom Pics

We went out of the show room a past 9 pm and decided to watch the other event – the motor exhibition which was held outside the QTA center. Luckily, we got some empty seats at the upper part of the bleacher and also just in right time for the start of the final phase of the series of exhibition. The show was another jaw-dropping performance from top professional drifters and motor sport stuntmen who came from different countries such as Great Britain, Mexico, and some others of which I don’t remember.

And here's a peak sample video during the motor show:

We left the venue after the exhibition ended its final segment that night at around 11 pm.  Then we went first in a certain Turkey food stall (famous for Shawarma take outs) for a snack before we went home. Another experience of Thank-God-Its-Friday syndrome just ended as I closed my eyes for sleep that time. What an awesome night. Til next time!

Recipe 109: Ginataang Sari-Saring Gulay with Shrimps

It’s been a while for me since I have taken a meal with vegetables served under our table. It’s been a couple of weeks or more I guess. So early this morning, I decided to do some jogging and brisk walking and afterwards buy some vegetables in the nearest grocery store in our accommodation (which is actually less than 2 kilometers or 20 minutes walk away, both back and forth). To compensate from the vegetable-less meals I had, I thought of cooking diverse vegetables in coconut milk. I really missed this type of Bicolano style of cuisine – cooked in coconut milk.

As one may noticed from my previous entries, I have already posted certain vegetables cooked in coco milk and this one, is no-different. The way of cooking and its ingredients is almost the same. The only thing that will make any difference is how one seasons this for exceptional taste.

Ingredients:

1 kg Squash (yellow) – peeled and cut into serving piece
1 pc Ampalaya – cut into serving pieces
2 pcs Eggplant – cut into serving pieces
Coconut Powder (since it’s unusual to find fresh coco milk here in the Mideast I will use the powder one) – dissolved in a 300-500ml of warm water until thick
Shrimps – fresh or frozen
5 Cloves of Garlic - minced
1 Onion – cut in pieces
1 pc Ginger – cut into pieces
Black Pepper Powder
Salt

Bagoong (Optional)
Large Chilis (Optional)

How to Cook:

In a pot, pour the coconut milk. Add garlic, onion, shrimps, bagoong and bring to boil.

Put in the squash. Simmer until squash is half-cooked. Then, Add the amplaya and eggplant.

Season it with pepper and salt. Place in chilis. Simmer over medium heat until all vegetables are soft and the milk thickens.

Serve hot with plain rice.

Enjoy!!!

Turning One Year Old

Sorry readers for the very loooong break! My sincere apologies to all of you, even if my readers were just few, but still I need to say sorry.

Anyways, for the past 2 months, a lot of experiences and stories I should have posted here but all of these were all written only in the running water. Yes, I admit. I was guilty of laziness and boredom to update. I did not even remember that this blog site was already a year older last January 12! Belated Happy Anniversary! Wahaha! How disgraceful. Hehe! Frankly, I started with this mafihmukh blog because of two reasons: erratic boredom I felt away from home and to develop my english writing skills which is my ultimate weakness. And now, I realized at this moment that boredom to write is slowly killing my blog which was basically started by the same reason: BOREDOM.

Ahhhh! Seriously, I hate boredom. Period! It makes me felt unproductive and useless as a person. I want my hands to be busy as always. Doing household chores such as cooking, dishwashing, cleaning, and repairs of anything broken were pleasures for me. I don’t mind doing that way back in the Philippines or even in my company’s accommodation. Every day, I usually think prior on what I should do today so I would not stay idle the whole day. Most especially at my present working situation, I have more time being idled than staying busy at work (quite contrary to the reasons why I considered nursing as my second profession – I prefer being busy handling patients everyday than doing nothing). Well, maybe, it’s time for me to gear up and continue pressing the keyboards again. Defy boredom. But first, I must get rid of the things that prevent me from writing such as playing computer games for long hours just to ease this boredom. Instead, I shall continue blog posting and updates though it makes my brain cells drain and dead tired after thinking about what to write and organizing all these thoughts. So to all my followers and accidental readers of this blog, I promise I will not give up this online blog. I shall continue what I have started one year ago. I may not have numerous followers or consistent readers, but at least I still have myself who will keep on writing and reading my own life’s experiences and stories. I have nothing to lose but I have all to gain.

Again, belated Happy Anniversary for this blog site! Mabrook!
